I started running a few years ago as a way to get a bit fitter, started doing a few shorter fun runs then decided to train for the Burnie 10 with a friend. In 2010 I ran my first one in 54.55! A couple of years later I decided to try Point to Pinnacle and it all grew from there; I was hooked, and somehow along the way I discovered that I was actually good at running.
In 2013 I ran my first full marathon in Melbourne in 3hrs15mins. Shortly after that I began training with Peter Hoskinson’s running group. With the guidance, encouragement and support of Pete and his group of amazing runners I’ve taken on the Cross Country season and began running track as well, making huge improvements in all distances from 3000m to Full Marathon.
I have represented Tasmania in the Australian Cross Country Championships (2015 – 17th), Half Marathon Championships (2015 – 12th), National Full Marathon Championships (2014 – 6th, 2015 – 2nd).
My favourite distance is the Full and Half Marathon, but at the moment I’m also really enjoying some of the shorter distances, especially on the track and really working on my speed.
My goal is to one day represent Australia in the Marathon. For this year my goals are represent Tassie in the Half and Full Marathon again, to run a Olympic Qualifying time for the marathon and to complete my first Bruny Island Ultra Marathon (64k).
